The Sri Lanka Open International Scrabble Championship

The WESPA rated Sri Lanka Open International Scrabble Championship is being held this year at OZO Colombo from 7-9 September 2018. The entrance fee is USD $100 (which includes buffet lunch each day) and is a 24 round tournament over 3 days. 5pp Challenge rule applies.
The Champion takes home USD $3000 with prizes being paid down to 10th place. In addition, there are five rating band prizes available.

During your visit to Sri Lanka, you can enjoy the many attractions that the country offers, along with your family, if they accompany you. Colombo has many restaurants and shopping arcades which can be checked out whilst enjoying breathtaking sunsets from the comfort of your hotel.
One hour south of Colombo, by expressway, is the Old Dutch fort and township of Galle and its surroundings. An interesting day trip await, spent exploring the ramparts, maritime museum, a variety of restaurants and beautifully restored Dutch heritage houses. On the way to Galle, the town of Bentota is famed for its sunny beaches and water sports.
One hour north of Colombo, by expressway, you reach the perfect beach experience in Negombo with a host of resort hotels, water sports and recreational activities to satisfy all beach enthusiasts; once again, an ideal one day experience.
For players with more time to spare, there are ancient cities which go back over 2500 years, misty hill stations which grow the finest Ceylon tea, wildlife parks with elephant safaris and places of religious worship frequented by multitudes of faiths. Yet more facets of the country that can be explored.
After taking in a competitive three days of Scrabble, there is the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and hospitality that is Sri Lanka.
