WESPA Summit Cup
The ultimate showdown of global Scrabble excellence.
The WESPA Scrabble Summit Cup is a year-end invitational championship for the world’s top 24 ranked players, with qualification based solely on the WESPA Year-to-Date (YTD) rankings at the end of each calendar year. It is held alongside the WESPA Open, an international tournament open to players worldwide.

Champion’s prizeQualifying Period
The qualifying 12-month period for the championship will be from October 1 of the previous year to September 30 of the current year.
Eligibility
- Top 24 Scrabble players on the YTD rankings as of September 30, 2026.
- Qualifiers must be paid-up members of registered WESPA member nations.
- Qualifiers must have played a minimum of 60 rated games in the qualifying period.
- Qualifiers must NOT be serving any ban or observing any disciplinary conditions.
Any player ranked in the top 24 who is ineligible or unavailable will forfeit their place to the next eligible player on the WESPA Year-to-Date (YTD) rankings. All participants must sign an undertaking to comply with the championship’s code of conduct and regulations.
Registration
The registration fee for the championship is EUR 255 per player, which includes the following:
- Championship entry levy.
- Lunch & tea breaks.
- Customized event shirt.
- Awards Gala dinner ticket.
- Raffle draw entry for free registration at the 2027 edition.
Prizes
- Guaranteed star prize of USD 10,000 minimum + Trophy for the champion.
- Top 8/10 players to be awarded cash prizes.
- Spot and/or product prizes may be awarded.
Meals
Free lunch and tea breaks will be provided for all participating players throughout the tournament. There will also be a gala dinner at the end of the championship and the ticket for gala dinner is already included in the registration fee.
Visas
WESPA will be readily available to provide necessary assistance and information to players to ensure procurement of visas to Malta.
Dress Code
A strict dress code applies throughout the championship. Shorts, knickers, and rubber sandals or slippers are not permitted in the playing arena, and all players and officials must be neatly dressed at all times.
Business casual or formal attire is required for the award gala dinner, and improperly dressed individuals will be denied entry.
